This gal again.  It’s just a blurry low detail concept but the background here, unlike the last pic I did of her, IS actually based off ideas I have for the setting of her story.  I just still dunno what the story is about lol.

I know I post these little progress things way too often but look at this geez.

There was nearly exactly one year between these two pictures.  On one hand obviously I’m thrilled at this progress in quality but it has come somewhat at a cost.  My original comic series, Phantasm Dyad, has been on hiatus for a good 9 months now, with next to no work having been done on it in the background.  I just haven’t wanted to, I’ve lost my discipline for it.  What this does mean is I’ve been able to devote all my drawing energy to cute girls and I guess the fruits of this focus of my attention have shown themselves now.

The conflict comes from the fact that sometimes honestly I’d be fine with giving up comic stuff to focus all my efforts on just pin-ups and illustrations and becoming really good at that, but I’ve come so far with Phantasm Dyad that I could never bring myself to give up on it incomplete at this stage.

There’s no real solution here other than to just get back to work on comic, but in order to conserve my energy on it I do keep the art fairly simple and rarely get to try new techniques for fear of getting hung up on a single page.  It’s a lot easier to try out ideas in single illustrations and if they don’t work, hey whatever there’s always next time.  Doing the same in comics - well that comic page needs to get done, so it means starting over and I just don’t quite have the patience for that.

I dunno, just some thoughts and feelings I’ve been mulling over lately.

Last re-reblog on the Amy Unleashed thinger here for now, big thanks to all who liked or reblogged it so far, getting over 100 notes in under 24 hours on a non-humour piece like this is overwhelmingly awesome and has made the 20+ hours I put into it over the last few weeks all worth it.  The amount of posts saying super nice things in the tags has been amazing too.

To those who followed me due to said work, hi and thanks!  Hope you enjoy both my original content and future fanart stuffs.

I’ll prolly upload some WIP stuff from the Amy project as well as some step-by-step bits for one or two of ‘em soon for anyone interested, mainly coz some of my initial sketches and thumbnails for figuring out poses kind of came out nice as they were and I wanna share them lol.

It was considered, but I decided it too much broke the rule of using Unleashed Town NPCs for my liking!  Egg Fighter was also considered of course (they’re the only unique NPCs in Eggmanland) but felt too goofy as a finale for the project.  I also considered doing a Metal Sonic style “Metal Amy” but Metal Sonic isn’t in Unleashed so that didn’t feel right either.  In the end I decided to draw her regular outfit to round off the “fashion she might actually wear” concept - and to imply that her visit to Eggmanland was a tad more destructive than the other countries.  =B

Man this was over a week’s long project but I’m finally done.  A bit of a love letter to my fave Sonic character and my fave Sonic game - Amy in the various fashion styles of an NPC from each culture depicted in Sonic Unleashed.

Ahh this is all really nice to know thanks (especially since clothing/backgrounds are things I always end up not being able to forget about how I built them up from scratch and worrying the audience won’t see them as a believable space and so on).

Due to my dislike of realistic noses too it’s part of my ongoing efforts to continually decrease the amount of orifices and detail in my characters.  The eventual goal is for all my girls to be smooth featureless eggs of various colours
